Kia has given its Sedona minivan a complete and impressive redesign for the 2022 model year. Called the Carnival globally, the newest Sedona is the fourth generation of Kia's minivan offering. It is hardly recognisable as the Sedona of old, with a more SUV-like look, amazing visibility, and longer and wider presence.
Kia built the 2022 Sedona with a3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) is not currently available for the Sedona. The Sedona has the capability to tow up to 1,587 kg and gets a respectable 12.0 L/100km city and 8.9 L/100km highway fuel economy.
Longer and wider than its predecessors, the 2022 Kia Sedona has a wheelbase that is 1.2 inches longer than before. This creates more room for passengers in the third row as well as for cargo in the rear--1,139 litres of cargo capacity are available behind the third row and 4,110 litres of cargo capacity are available when the second and third row are folded. In terms of comfort and seating, the Sedona can be styled in a seven- or eight-passenger configuration. For drivers that opt for second-row captain's chairs, they can recline and feature a footrest for maximum comfort. The interior is as bold as it is luxurious, taking a page out of the Kia Telluride's design playbook. With a sleek dashboard environment, the Sedona can feature either an 8.0-inch touchscreen or dual 12.3-inch display including a digital gauge cluster and infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all models, and passengers can remain plugged in with multiple USB charging ports.
Kia offers the 2022 Sedona, labeled as the Carnival, in five trim levels across Canada: • LX - $34,795 • LX+ - $38,295 • EX - $42,295 • EX+ - $45,595 • SX - $48,595 High-tech features and driver-assist technologies are standard across all Sedona models, but the mid-level EX offers the right balance between value and features. Upgrading to the EX allows drivers to access a variety of features, including a power-operated rear liftgate, an in-cabin intercom, wireless phone charging, and advanced driver-assist technologies such as blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and advanced smart cruise control.
