The 2022 Kia Seltos is a subcompact SUV that slots right in between Kia's Soul and Sportage in its SUV lineup. Pairing practicality with size, 2022 is the second model year for the Seltos, and it gains many new features to entice drivers. Kia added automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlamps as standard across the 2022 Seltos lineup. Additional changes include automatic climate control and remote start coming standard on all models except the lowest LX trim level.
Kia offers two four-cylinder engines in the Seltos. All models except the SX Turbo feature a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that delivers 146 horsepower and is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. While the LX FWD features front-wheel drive, all other models come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) for additional vehicle control. AWD models feature 8.8 L/100km city and 7.6 L/100km highway fuel economy. The upgraded engine is a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder that pumps out 175 horsepower to deliver a snappy 6.6-second run to 97 kph. The turbo engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with AWD.
Surprisingly spacious, the Seltos offers plenty of space for people and cargo compared to its competitors in the subcompact class. It features 752 litres of space behind the second row and an astonishing 1,778 litres when the second row is folded flat. In the cabin, it is evident that time went into choosing each material and detail, and the environment is refined enough to hold its own against Kia's flagship near-luxury Telluride. The dashboard highlights the touchscreen infotainment display, either 8.0 inches of 10.25 inches depending on the trim level, and it includes Apple CarPlay and Android auto smartphone connectivity as standard, as well as Bluetooth.
Kia offers the 2022 Seltos for sale in five model configurations across Canada: • LX FWD - $23,395 • LX - $25,395 • EX - $27,995 • EX Premium - $30,995 • SX Turbo - $32,995 Drivers wanting the right mix of features and value should opt for the EX trim level. Starting at $27,995, it provides drivers with heated front seats, sunroof, smart key and push button start, leather seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a host of driver-assistance technologies, such as blind spot warning system, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision avoidance assist, and lane follow assist.
